Ayurveda, Sanskrit for the “science of life”, is India’s 5,000 year old medical system. It is commonly referred to as Yoga’s sister science, as both are rooted in the ancient Vedic tradition. Yoga teaches us how to balance our mind, while Ayurveda teaches us how to balance our body through the use of food, herbs, and living in harmony with nature. In this 2-hour workshop, we will learn the foundations of Ayurveda and its unique tri-dosha approach.
In keeping with Ayurveda’s emphasis on prevention and self-care, we will also explore Dinacharya, the Ayurvedic daily routine. Dinacharya gives us guidelines for best times to eat and sleep as well as other self-care measures for preventative health and well-being. Handouts of class material will be provided. No prior knowledge of Ayurveda is necessary.
