Event Details

Local artist Ron Donoughe, whose studio is in Lawrenceville, will be recognized for his contributions to the Pittsburgh arts scene with a free-to-the-public event dubbed “Celebrating Ron Donoughe Day.” As part of the celebration, there will be music, dance, poetry, and performance along with food trucks and a cash bar.

Known for painting outside on location in the plein air style, Ron collaborated with the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts on the “90 Pittsburgh Neighborhoods” project, where he painted portraits of each city neighborhood. Ron will talk about how this project got started and what it means to Pittsburgh. In addition, a new exhibition from Ron will debut called “Pittsburgh Scenes,” featuring about 18 new Pittsburgh cityscapes. The exhibit runs from Aug. 5 through Aug. 26. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a limited set of note cards printed especially for the celebration. Twenty neighborhood scenes from the “90 Pittsburgh Neighborhoods” book and exhibition project were specially selected for the new boxed set.
