Phoenix Boutique: Retail Therapy on a Budget
This Mother’s Day, fifty-one Lawrenceville small businesses have come together to offer up their best for you to impress her. Leading up to the big weekend we are highlighting different businesses involved in the campaign. Visit lvpgh.com/mom to plan your weekend, May 6-8.
Phoenix Boutique has been open at 3627 Butler Street for two years now. Owner Jacqueline “Jackie” Stone offers everything from department store brands to high-end designers, curated from a devoted client base of women with beautiful closets. Sold on consignment, each unique piece brings customers style at a reasonable budget.
Lyndsey Brown has been on staff for a year now. After meeting Jackie at Pittsburgh Fashion Week a few years ago, she started shopping at Phoenix and eventually came on to assist Jackie with the store. A Lawrenceville resident, Lyndsey’s family goes back a few generations in the neighborhood, “My grandparents were in a bowling league at Arsenal Lanes in the 1950s.” she says. (Back then, the building that now houses Phoenix Boutique was a brewery.)
Now the warm and cozy store is filled with fashionable women’s clothing and accessories, diverse clientele perusing for items ranging from professional to casual along racks crafted by Iron Eden’s John Walter. At Phoenix they go beyond your average retail services. Staff also provide personal wardrobe assistance, pairing clients with appropriate outfits in a form of closet therapy. “There has to be a little tough love. However we aren’t Stacey and Clinton!” says Brown.
While moms tend to put themselves last after everything else, this Mother’s Day Weekend is an opportunity to expand her fashion palette when everything in the store is 50% off. Mom can treat herself without blowing the budget!
