About the New Candidates
Kristopher Chandler, Project and Policy Lead at Mobilify Southwestern PA
As a resident, I believe in fostering a Lawrenceville that is accessible and welcoming to all people, while also ensuring its growth and vitality. As a transportation practitioner, political advocate, and artist, I have made it my mission to ensure that holistic communication and engagement leads the charge in programmatic efforts. I believe in making sure that we can continue to grow without losing the soul that makes this community what it truly is: a home for all Pittsburghers, whether new or seasoned, and no matter their background or socioeconomic status. To do this, we need community leaders that value the importance of both innovation and tradition, and community leaders that believe in safe, accessible, and equitable community development practices. This belief that I speak to is something that I’ve always embedded within both my professional and personal life.
Marissa Cozza, Major Gifts Fundraiser at University of Pittsburgh, Masters Candidate Nonprofit Management
As a resident, I care about the community I live in, and I want to be an advocate in making Lawrenceville an inclusive, accessible and sustainable community. The gentrification of Lawrenceville is something that has concerned me since before I moved here. I want to make sure that it is a place for all that want to make it their home. In my current studies in nonprofit management, I am learning how important it is to set up proper governance policies and procedures as well as funding mechanisms to ensure community organizations have tools to be successful.
Andrew Moss, Owner/Architect at mossArchitects
As a business owner and resident of Lawrenceville for over 15 years, I wish to continue to see Lawrenceville grow intentionally in a manner that supports its residents, while seeking ongoing improvement to the business district. I would like to assist in making sure Lawrenceville remains one of our city’s most unique and welcoming pedestrian urban environments. My firm, mossArchitects, whose office was in Lawrenceville for 6 years and remains in the East End, has completed an extensive number of projects in the Lawrenceville neighborhood including single and multi-family residences, both new construction and renovation. We have also completed several commercial spaces, including numerous restaurants, such as highly successful Pusadee’s Garden. Throughout my career, I have worked with many CDC’s and am excited to use this experience in my own community to help it grow with intention and balance. I am also committed to making Lawrenceville safe and accessible for visitors and residents alike.
