As a community driven nonprofit, the Lawrenceville Corporation (LC) relies upon its volunteers, members, and committees to achieve LC’s mission to serve as a catalyst and conduit for responsible and sustainable growth in the Lawrenceville community. If you reside or own property in Lawrenceville, own, operate or are employed by a local business or institution, or have non-profit, local government or community development experience and expertise, you are invited to consider opportunities to inform and guide the work of the organization.

Lawrenceville Corporation is looking for stakeholders to become more engaged in the organization as volunteers and members, and is also seeking interest from current members who are interested in serving on one of LC’s organizational committees: Business District Advisory Committee, Finance Committee, Community Development, Asset Management, Membership and Outreach Committee (new), and the Board of Directors.

Become a member or renew your LC membership today! LC members enable LC to assist and promote local businesses, make our streets safer and greener, develop and advocate for affordable commercial space and housing, plan for the future of our parks, and build connections along our riverfront. Membership is open to all residents, businesses, community organizations and property owners in the Lawrenceville area.

Lawrenceville Corporation encourages LC members to explore and express interest in Committee and Board service.

Lawrenceville Corporation clarified and formalized our board recruitment, nominations, and elections process in 2021 to make it more open and transparent. The Committee identifies needs of the organization based on the existing skills and experience of current board members, member surveys, community demographics, organizational work plans, and the organizational mission, vision, and values. The Nominating Committee will oversee recruitment, review, and recommendation of interested members to relevant committees and will recommend a slate of candidates to serve on the Board of Directors. Membership will vote to approve or reject the slate of candidates at LC’s annual meeting. For details on our nomination process and for a timeline of key dates/deadlines, see below.

LC is in the process of a Joint Strategic Plan with Lawrenceville United which could modify the nominating process and goals of the organization in the future.

To express interest in serving on a committee or the Board of Directors, please fill out the Nominating Committee’s Interest Form that can be found here.

2024 Board Nominations and Election Process

LC envisions a community that is defined and strengthened by its diversity. We are committed to building an inclusive board and organizational structure that possesses a diversity of professional and personal backgrounds and who embody the gender, racial, socio-economic, age, and cultural diversity of the community served by the organization. About the Nominating Committee

In order to fulfill the Board’s goal of building a diverse, capable and well-rounded Board, LC has chartered a Nominating Committee. LC’s Nominating Committee is made up of 5-6 Board members.

Once interest forms are received, the Nominating Committee will review the candidates, determine eligibility, conduct interviews with selected candidates and will recommend them to the relevant organizational Committee based on interest and expertise. Those who best meet the specified criteria will join a slate of candidates for approval by the Board of Directors, and for formal approval and election by the LC Members at the Annual Meeting in September 2024.

Board Member Responsibilities

Board candidates who are successful in the election must pledge to support Lawrenceville Corporation’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statement located here.  Board members are responsible for attending monthly Board meetings and Committee meetings and should expect to spend an average of 6-8 hours every month on LC business. Board members are responsible for ensuring adequate financial resources; protecting assets and providing proper financial oversight; building a capable board; ensuring legal and ethical integrity; enhancing the organization’s public standing; determining mission and purpose; selecting the executive director; supporting and evaluating the executive director; ensuring effective planning; and monitoring and strengthening programs and services.
