LVPGH Bustling with Business

Twenty-one businesses have opened in Lawrenceville in 2015 alone. From retail and dining to music and event spaces there are more options than ever to explore from 57th to 34th Street.

10th Ward Growth

Especially above 51st Street in the 10th Ward, businesses are beginning to reclaim the once vacant store fronts and bring back specialty shopping experiences to those living in the neighborhood and beyond. The Butterwood Bake Consortium is offering a late night option for fans of coffee and baked goods (including those adhering to a vegan or gluten free diet) at 5222 Butler Street. Coffee is on at Caffe D’Amore Coffee Company at 5400 Butler. Talking with Liz Quesnelle, owner of The Gilded Girl beauty emporium at 5104 Butler Street, she described the Upper Lawrenceville neighborhood as a burgeoning shopping destination.

Everybody is Open

It’s not just Upper Lawrenceville that’s booming. Anthony’s Locker, a premium sneaker shop, began online and grew into a brick-and-mortar store at 4314 Butler Street—nestled below Arsenal Bowling in the heart of the neighborhood. Toll Gate Revival also began as an online business before moving into 3711 Butler Street. Not only are they able to help customers of any budget locate the perfect items for home decor, they also provide props for the many different projects filming in the area.

11/21/15 Grand Opening Parties

With all these different businesses opening there are many reasons to celebrate. This Saturday two of the newest spots are hosting grand opening parties—grand being the operative term. Von Walter & Funk and Una Biologicals are both holding event on November 21st.

The party starts at 11AM until 6PM at Von Walter & Funk who have partnered with Duncan St. Dinners to provide guests with a unique and tasteful experience. VW&F are pulling out all the stops with a beautiful holiday table, seasonal and paired wine with hor d’oeuvres, and crafting a signature cocktail. Give-aways and surprises are in store for all!

Between 5 and 9PM Una Biologicals is hosting a party featuring craft cocktails made by a bartender form Tender and a honey tasting from ApoIdea. Producers of organic beauty and wellness products, Una worked the many Pittsburgh farmers’ markets and grew it’s wholesale distribution before finding a beautiful permanent home at 4322 Butler Street in which to make and sell.
